Hi all, I have the opportunity to purchase a 1962 Willys Jeep ute in Australia. It does need some work and comes with a lot of spares (many that need cleaning up). I'm thinking of making it a project to fix it up (I have no prior experience) and plan on selling it down the track (probably) What are your views? Is it worth it?

I am in the deep south and I have the opportunity to purchase this sweet looking jeep. I am new to the military vehicle market but I believe this is something I an very interested in getting into. I am a little bit of a car/motorcycle buff. I was wanting to get this and restore it. It runs but the engine could be tuned up. But anyway at first the guy stated it was a 1941 Willy's jeep but now he is saying 46-50 Willy's jeep. I was just wondering if there was anyway in particular I could find out and see if this was a military issued vehicle. Here is some pictures of the vehicle I am trying to get. Any suggestions would be grealty appreciated.

Willy's Civil Defense Engine Paint Color/code

Hi everyone. My family just found a barn-find that is just too good to be true. Its a 1956 Willy's Civil Defense Truck with only 5,700 miles. It is the original paint and is in almost showroom condition. It took us two years to find it, and another year to convince the owner to sell it to us. Anyway, we have it in the shop having a thorough look over and we are trying to determine what color the engine is supposed to be. This one looks like someone painted it reddish orange, but every other "resored" Willy's we find has the engine, and transmission painted silver. My Dad's thought was that because the Civil Defense vehicles were sold to the military, that the engines may have been this color.

Does anyone know anything about this topic? If so, please chime in. You could even email me directly at JeepDude98@gmail.com if you like.

Thanks! One very excited family!

What Year Is This Motor?

I am restoring a 53 cj3a so I'm told. The vin plate is missing and frame tag is gone. The motor has been rebuilt prior to me getting it and the serial numbers are not on the water pump block. The place behind the oil filter simply has a stamped circle on the left side and a * asterrick type symbol on the right. The engine block case has the 7-18 clock stamp and the 638632 cc w4a N1 CR N2 on the side. What can you tell me about this motor?

Willys Wagon Resto Into Pickup

hey guys, new to the willys forum! been into the cj5s all my life but just recently picked up my first willys! its a 1956 willys wagon that was cut to look like a pickup. I ended up finding a guy on craigslist who has a whole bunch of willys truck parts including a really good cab extra hoods grills and doors (basically a whole rolling chassis truck minus drivetrain) so what i plan on doing is taking off the old wagon hack job body off and restoring this driving wagon as a truck with a shorter wheelbase since the mounting points are the same. hopefully by the end of this summer ill have a nice little truck to cruise around in! but the key to this whole project is: to not let my mom or girlfriend find out i bought another car lol

I truely dislike small animals that eat wires and former owners with engine fires.

I now have a new to me early 1946 cj2a.

It is now twelve volt. It has a dash start press rod under the e brake handle and a key switch.

I require specifity here to fix this perfectly.

This will be my new daily driver.

All the connections under the hood are suspect.

From the Positive battery cable and every where else.

What wire connects where on every connection of every component?

It is cold out now so I have time to do my research.

Thanks in advance

Willys Pickup And Wagon Frame Comparison?

hi guys, I have been into the jeep cj5s for a long time but i am just getting into the willys scene. i am picking up a 1956 willys wagon plow vehicle and a 1953 willys pickup (that is all disassembled) this week. the the wagon has a beat up body on it from plowing all those years and i was wondering if the 53' pickup cab would bolt up to the frame? the cab is in near perfect condition. does anyone have diagrames of the difference in frames? or does anyone know if its all interchangable? i know the fenders hood and gill are all interchangeable. thanks guys!

Advance Adapter T19-Gm Th400

Some time ago I rebuilt a 56 Willys PU, long gone now....., but scrounging around, I found the Advance Adapter kit for mating a GH th400 to the t19 T-case. It was mounted on a rebuilt 400 but I went the original route. The adapter is all I have left. It’s never actually been used other than mounted up to the TH400. Other than that it’s been in a box for a few moves around the country. If you’re interested let me know now and we can work something out. Shipping would be a bear so I prefer local. I live in the Bay Area, Alameda, CA. Let’s say $250.00.

1962 Jeep Pick Up Truck

I was wondering if anyone with some experience could send me a total part requirement list to redo the entire braking system on my 1962 Willys pick up. I found a local shop that will do the work but I have to gather all of the parts to do the job. Any help with where to purchase would also be helpful. I am new at this and know very little about mechanics. Thanks

L134 Engine Rebuild

Hi,Im looking for help or direction on my L134 rebuild. My question is after I installed the #1 piston, rod and rod cap I found that when I rotate the crank the rod cap nut is extremely close ( 1/16 ) to the engine block casting as it passes the oil fill tube side of the block. Im using the same crank, bearings, and tried piston rods with 7/16 and 3/8 bolts with no success. The #4 rod assy has plenty of clearance when passing on the same side of the block. Any advise would be appreciated. thanks jim
