Say Larry,
tks for the info on my jeep.
so, from what year to year could i use interchangeable parts for my jeep. The jeep came with a soft cover & the doors won't line up so i'm thinking the windshield may be incorrect or the soft cover was ordered wrong? I also got to wondering what other years of military or civilian jeep parts would work? tks

For a 1959 CJ5. F-Head engine parts from many years are interchangeable. The military M38A1 has many items specific to it, but mechanicals should work. One piece windshield with heavy frame was used. Its possible you have the wrong top.

Hello, I am James Smith, just joined this site and wadering if it is still going? I bought a 1966 CJ5 from the original owner, It came with the Buick v-6 engine from the factory and a 3 speed, it presently has a 81 buick v-6 and 4 speed tranny and does run but has set up for many years, I have been told the engine is the 231 buick, but not sure, it does have a HEI distributor and two barrel carb. I keep hearing the term willy's thrown around, I thought that vehicle stopped production in the 50's, I know my jeep came with a soft top and the aluminum hardtop was purchased from sears in 68 or at least that is what the old receipt says. I had always wanted a jeep and found this one on ebay and bought it, when I picked the jeep up I trailered it home about 280 miles on a uhaul trailer, it had a tow bar but since it had set up so long, I felt more comfortable with a trailer verses 10 year old tires and worried about the bearings after sitting for so long.
