Engine Colour

hi
i am new to this forum but can any one tell me the correct colour for a 1946 willys jeep engine

Factory would be black in a 2A jeep. A rebuild or replacement engine might be red when sourced from a willys dealer. From an independent shop it could be whatever color they had in the machine shop.

The later the engine is rebuilt, the greater the possibility the the enamel base paint is also a "HIGH TEMPERATURE" formulated paint so that it will not burn off of the hot engine.

My 2a flat head motor was repainted an almond/light beige to show any oil leaks quickly.

This is available as a one use spray can at your local parts store, buy a six pack, primer is bad here bcause of the heat in the block.

Do remember anywhere there is dirt and grease, the paint will not stay on the block.
