First, I would like to thank you for allowing me to become a member and am excited at being a part of such a great club!
My question is that I am restoring what I was told is a CJ2A but have many doubts now that I am in the rebuild stage. The body that is on the jeep was a CJ5 but it was just setting on the chassis and none of the mounts lined up, so I sold the body. I have since sand blasted the frame and had it powder coated, also installed the axles, new suspention, steering and brake lines. However, when I purchased all new parts for the front hubs for a CJ2A, the seals were to big to fit and I noticed the bearings are made by Timken, which I thought was a later model.
I do have the original engine which is (I'm told) the F4 Hurricane motor along with the trans. There is one number stamped into the frame on the passengers side top rail (#127628). The overall length of the frame is approx. is 122". Is there anywhere else I can look or do to indentfy this frame? Thank you

The F head engine started in the 3B, and was also used in the Cj5.2a's always came with a flathead 134. If the tub was too long for the frame chances are you are correct in assuming it is a CJ3B.. What you may want to do is find the frame measuring diagrams Willys has in the manuals and see if your dimensions match the 3B or early Cj5....
Sounds like a frankenjeep, nothing wrong with that as you can build it the way you like....What do you have for paperwork? That is gonna be very important when it comes time to put on the road.....
If you could post pictures of the axles, steering, and frame it might be helpful in identifying your jeep.
