First off thank you for a forum with real jeep information. Now, Iwas given a 1964 willys with a few body problems but a good looking engine, tranny, frame and axels. My question is does anyone know fi this has a 6 or 12 volt system in it? How would I check for sure? thank you.

Try checking the generator and regulator for part numbers and voltage ratings on their data plates, pull the bulbs and see if they are 6 or 12 volt ones, look at the coil and see if it has any markings....Post any part numbers you find if you can't find the voltage ratings...

I think your jeep was built after the switch to 12 volt but it is pretty close to when they had both available.....AFAIK there was not a definite date for the switchover.

Thank you for your help it is a 12 volt. Now we can put a battery in it, and see if it still lives.
