Breaks Master Cylinder

I am installing my new master cylinder and see that the link goes into the rear portion. I cant find anything more descriptive than install link into cylinder. Do i just shove the link arm into the hole at the back of the master cylinder or is there more steps to installing the link correctly? Thanks for any help
