Hi everyone. My family just found a barn-find that is just too good to be true. Its a 1956 Willy's Civil Defense Truck with only 5,700 miles. It is the original paint and is in almost showroom condition. It took us two years to find it, and another year to convince the owner to sell it to us. Anyway, we have it in the shop having a thorough look over and we are trying to determine what color the engine is supposed to be. This one looks like someone painted it reddish orange, but every other "resored" Willy's we find has the engine, and transmission painted silver. My Dad's thought was that because the Civil Defense vehicles were sold to the military, that the engines may have been this color.
Does anyone know anything about this topic? If so, please chime in. You could even email me directly at JeepDude98@gmail.com if you like.
Thanks! One very excited family!
