I am in the deep south and I have the opportunity to purchase this sweet looking jeep. I am new to the military vehicle market but I believe this is something I an very interested in getting into. I am a little bit of a car/motorcycle buff. I was wanting to get this and restore it. It runs but the engine could be tuned up. But anyway at first the guy stated it was a 1941 Willy's jeep but now he is saying 46-50 Willy's jeep. I was just wondering if there was anyway in particular I could find out and see if this was a military issued vehicle. Here is some pictures of the vehicle I am trying to get. Any suggestions would be grealty appreciated.

it appears to be a Cj2A civillian jeep with several major modifications, the grille could date it to 1945-46 as it appears to have th eholes for the early parking lights. Check to see if there is an oval hole around the steering column about twice as high as it is wide. That would indicate the tub may have been a column shift at one point.

It also appears as if it may have the F head engine from the 3B and later jeeps installed, with the usual hole in the hood for the carb.

It may run well and make a decent trail jeep but it will be a long road ahead to restore it to stock. It is NOT a military jeep as much as the seller may think it is. SOme people think all flatfenders are military issue after seeing too many green CJ's on MASH.
