New To Willy Jeeps I have a cj2a how do you tell what year it is. Rate Topic: -----

How do you tell what year a cj2a is ?

Easiest way is the serial number.. CJ2A XXXXX up to CJ2AXXXXXX......there are a bunch of differnt features you can also date the early models from. If you have no serial number or engine number, best bet would be to post several pictures from all angles including one of the drivers floorboard and pedal area.

The VIN is CJ2A 164672 I think it is a 1948.

Sure looks like a '48 VIN. I don't know if it is late enough to have the 3A style frame or a left side spare tire and right side top bow brackets....but both of those features would positively ID it as a 48.....Is your engine number close to but greater than your frame number?
