I HAVE JUST PURCHASED A 1947 WILLYS BEACH EDITION, COLOR PINK, WITH PINK AND WHITE STRIPED SEATS,IN GOOD CONDITION.THE ORIGINAL OWNING FAMILY SAYS THEY BOUGHT THE CAR NEW AND THAT IS THE WAY IT CAME FROM THE DEALER. DOES ANYONE HAVE ANY EXPERIENCE WITH THIS MODEL, AND SHOULD I RESTORE IT (IT RUNS) TO THE ORIGINAL CONDITION OR MODIFY IT TO MODERN CONS? THANKS FOR YOUR IMPUT. PETER DOLAN 2/11/10

Peter;
If this is the model you acquired, it is known as the Surrey.It is 2WD and based on the Dispatcher model DJ 3A. There were under 1100 built between 1959 and 1964. If this is yours, by all means..restore it to original. Plenty of parts available.
