Frame Support Is it Stock or Custom?

I am starting to take the body off my '54 CJ3B and came across this attachment to the frame, behind the front fender. This jeep was used in a gas station and for snow plowing. I am wondering if anyone knows if this was a stock support or something the owner made for this vehicle? If I don't plan on doing any snowplowing, can I leave it off?

Hello Rich; This was either an attempt to strengthen a weak frame or an attachment for some other purpose. It is not original to the CJ3B
